On November 16, 1632, the battle between the Swedish King Gustav II. Adolf and the Allied forces under General Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim was fought near the small town of Lützen. Thanks to a strategically cunning move, the Pappenheim horsemen, heavily armored in black armor, were able to surprise the Swedish king from behind and shoot him from behind at close range. As the horse reared up, the king’s foot got caught in the loop of the saddle and his body was dragged along for a few meters.

Interactive hotspots give users detailed insights into the various troop types of the Pappenheimers, Pikemen and Musketeers and allow them to discover some of their special features.
