How One Family Survived The Holocaust
Hershel’s Bunker is an interactive web documentary that tells the story of a Jewish family during the Holocaust.
At its center is the Polish-Jewish Ressler family, who were forced by the German occupiers to leave their home in 1941. Across eight chapters, survivors Murray Ressler and Rose Kohn recount life before the war, the violent deaths of two family members, the building of the bunker beneath a farmhouse, and the dangers and hardships of life in hiding.
Each chapter is carried by video interviews from the USC Shoah Foundation archive and accompanied by 3D scenes with a parallax effect. Written testimonies and historical photographs complement the experience.
